World Cancer Day

Today is World Cancer Day and I’m not sure exactly sure what that means, but here’s my commentary. Eight years ago I learned that I had pre-existing cancer cells. Immediately I had a biopsy and the abnormal cells in question were removed from my body. Not too long after my tests, I needed to renew my health insurance only to discover that I would be denied insurance because of my new “condition.” I’d like to think that pre-cancerous cells are very common. We are prone to cells within us that can go awry at anytime, but how we choose to live and the habits we form can either accelerate or slow the abnormality of cell growth. I have not had any type of abnormal cell in my body for eight years…and I confess that I’ve developed an interest in cell images.
